The title of a recent article published in USA Today caught our eye – “10 Best Hotels in Costa Rica”. Click here to read the full article. Since Costa Rica is one of our top-selling destinations, we wanted to see how many hotels on this list would make our Top 10 List.
Four of the 10 properties listed are located close to San Jose. For the majority of our travelers, San Jose isn’t a destination they visit unless specifically wanting to include museums and/or the National Theatre in their itinerary. San Jose isn’t the original capital city of Costa Rica and Juan Santamaria Airport (SJO) is actually located in Alajuela, not San Jose.
We do agree that five of the properties on the list are highly regarded by our travelers as well as our own personal experience (Hotel Grano de Oro, Almonds & Corals, Savegre Hotel, El Silencio Lodge and Hotel Tropical Latino). If only one property in the San Jose area had been listed, more regions of Costa Rica could be included in the author’s list.
