Wildlife Wonders of Yellowstone National Park

October 9-13, 2025

October is an excellent time to visit Yellowstone National Park. Summer crowds are almost entirely gone so it’s much easier to find solitude in America’s first national park. As fall progresses, bison and elk herds gather in the lowlands to build fat reserves for the coming winter. Grizzly and black bears are still active, with male grizzlies shadowing wolf packs to steal final meals, and females scouting for denning sites. Meanwhile, wolves patrol Lamar and Hayden Valleys, where large concentrations of elk and bison make these areas prime predator-prey arenas.

As the landscape begins to frost over, Yellowstone’s wildlife dons their winter attire. Birds that stay year-round, including eagles and corvids, can be seen soaring overhead, while the park’s smaller predators—bobcats, coyotes, foxes, and badgers—are busy hunting rodents and preparing for pending winter conditions.

We’ll travel in the Roaming Bison American safari van, complete with a pop-top for panoramic views. Custom-designed by two wildlife biologists, this one-of-a-kind vehicle combines comfort with optimal wildlife viewing—it’s a game changer for any nature expedition. October’s cool dawns and dusks are prime times for wildlife observation, and we’ll work to get you to the heart of the action in prime time.

Join Reefs to Rockies and Denver Audubon this October for an unforgettable journey into Yellowstone’s autumn spectacle.

ABOUT YOUR EXPEDITION LEADERS
