We just returned from Adventure Week Ecuador. AWEcuador (#AWEcuador) was a 10-day event powered by the Adventure Travel Trade Association and designed for a select group of travel writers and tour operators including Reefs to Rockies. Its goal was to expose us to hidden gems and adventure activities in a country only the size of Colorado. One of our adventures was whitewater rafting the Upper Napo River, known locally as the Rio Jatunyacu, which means “BIG WATER” in Quichua. We were told this section of river would bring 27 Class III rapids. It didn’t take long for the Jatuncayu to live up to its name. Recent rains resulted in some Class IV rapids along the way. Big Waves = Big Fun!
Thanks to Rios Ecuador for hosting us on our whitewater adventure during Adventure Week Ecuador 2015!
